Unless you’re famous, no one’s going to read about your life.
Okay, so you’re a rocket scientist.
That don’t impress me much.
If you know what song that line is from, then you’re an old fart like me.
Enough reminiscing how hot Shania Twain was.
Let’s start digging and uncover how to start a blog about your life that people will read.
And at the end of the article is Shania Twain, for your reference of course.
How to start a blog about your life that people will read even if you’re not famous
How to start a blog about your life that people will actually want to read?
By, giving away your biggest and shocking secrets.
What if I told you that I have a crush on a little girl more than half my age?
And, what if this girl is my partner’s niece?
Then I tried to make a move on her?
But I got rejected and she told the world.
My relationship, in tatters.
Furthermore, I got fired from my 9 to 5 job.
To top all that, someone stole my car while I was eating Krispy Kreme donuts.
My world was turned upside down.
And the title of my life story, “I tried to have sex relationship with a child.”
I bet you would read my story.
But, that sort of story only happens in the movies. I think.
My point is, if your daily life is not as interesting as my hypothetical story, no one cares.
In saying that, you can still talk a little bit about yourself.
How to start a blog about your life even if it’s not a TV soap opera
Okay, we’ve established that your life is boring and no one cares about your new iPhone. But, you are adamant in telling your story. Good news! You can, by doing the following:
- Learn keyword research
- Bare yourself
- Be you
- Be the expert
Learn keyword research
Keyword research is basically finding out what people are searching for on the search engine.
I know what you’re thinking, what’s this got to do with a blog about your life.
Well, when a keyword research tool gives you ideas on what is being typed on the search bar, you bet there are people willing to read about them.
Much like this article, “how to start a blog about your life.”
I made some keyword research using Ubersuggest and found out that there are people out there wanting to blog about their life.
So I wrote this article to hopefully guide you with some insight. And, here it is… A guide from someone not famous.
Don’t start a blog about your life if you don’t meet the following criteria:
- Famous
- Your life is like the movies
- Established a significant amount of die-hard fans
So, if you’re not famous, you live a normal life, and no followers, don’t do it.
Bare yourself
After doing your keyword research and now writing what people want to read. How about mentioning a little bit about yourself in your blog?
You can mention tidbits about your life, mention a little joke, be bold and transparent.
The best stories are untold tales.
Be you
Look, there are millions if not billions of blogs on the internet.
Everything has been done from fitness, food, finance, to chickens.
Do you think a general blog will cut the mustard?
I would rather read a blog with quirks than a formally written article.
Add your personality to your writing.
It’s what’s going to differentiate your website from the sea of blogs.
Be the expert
Who would you listen to about diseases?
Your doctor or your lawyer?
I hope you didn’t say your lawyer.
Try to convey to the reader that you’re the go-to guy or gal about your topic.
Don’t say that you’re bloody Einstein.
Don’t make things up.
Support your claims with pictures, proof, research, etc.
Display your credentials, your key moments, your accomplishments.
I know you don’t like to brag, but how else will we know?
Before I forget, as promised, here’s Shania Twain.
Conclusion
Blogging about your life won’t get many readers unless you’re famous, or you live a life out of the ordinary.
I suggest building a personal brand first before talking about how you didn’t shower for a week and still smelled fresh.
Or, you can leverage the power of keyword research. Look for what people are searching for and start writing about them.
That way, at least you know there are people actively looking for the topics you’re writing about.
When you think about it, who the heck is on google searching for what you ate for dinner.
It’s different when you’re famous like Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, or Christian Tanobey. Before you scratch your head, I was joking about the latter.
Die-hard fans and stalkers are always on the lookout for anything about their idol. Searching about them and reading any information about their chosen stars.
You’re reading this because you typed in the search engine, the phrase, “how to start a blog about your life,” or similar.
I put in tidbits of my life in there, subtly. So, I was talking about my dull life to people who clearly don’t give a damn and only want to know how to start a blog about their life.
And that’s how to not start a blog about your life.
I hope you enjoyed the article, if you are still left wanting, read the following article to guide you on how you can start your own blog and write about your life. Or anything for that matter.
Don’t worry, I’m not selling anything. It’s FREE.
