What is a Lifestyle Blog?
A lifestyle blog typically encompasses various topics in wellness, mental health, fashion, and style.
Bloggers may share their experiences with readers through personal posts or create visual content for them to enjoy, like outfit ideas, recipes, or DIY projects.
Lifestyle blogs are often used as marketing tools by brands who want to reach viewers with similar interests, but they can also be monetized on Instagram using ads and sponsored collaborations.
Step by step guide to create a lifestyle blog on Instagram
Create an Instagram account
Before you start taking selfies or showing off your latest recipe, you’ll need to create an Instagram account by clicking here. You can do this from the app on your phone by tapping “Start” at the bottom of the screen and following prompts for a username and password.
If it’s been a while since you logged in, go ahead and log into your regular Facebook or Twitter accounts as well so that they’re linked with all future posts.
Creating a profile is easy: tap “Create New Account,” enter basic information about yourself and follow through by choosing a photo from your camera roll (or taking one) for people who find you without any existing content to see initially.
The interface will also prompt you to choose which topics – like food, fashion, or wellness – best suit what you want to post about.
Find a niche that you are passionate about and want to share with others
Niche blogging can take many forms. Some bloggers focus on a specific topic like travel, fashion, or weddings – while others may cover more diverse topics and range in content from health to finance.
The key is finding something you’re passionate about and want to share, but also making sure there’s enough interest out there for it, so you’ll be able to build an audience around what you post.
Follow other bloggers in your niche on Instagram for inspiration
Following others is OK!
Instagram is a social platform where you interact and make friends, a.k.a. follow.
Fellow bloggers in your niche can give you the latest inspiration for posts, and some may even mention you back.
It’s a great way to build relationships with other people who share similar interests!
Take unique pictures of yourself or your surroundings, never take a photo from the same angle twice
Alright, I took up photography, so I know a bit of lighting and angles.
I hate using flash on my phone, so I usually take photos where there’s plenty of light.
When you’re in a setting where there’s not much light, usually at restaurants, and you don’t like using the flash, borrow your friend’s mobile phone and use the torch app to light up your subject. Otherwise, stick to the flash.
I always hold the camera at a low angle when taking selfies, so my chin doesn’t fill the frame. And, refrain from taking pictures where you have to look up or down.
The best time to take photos is the golden hour. You won’t need filters when taking pictures at this time.
The golden hour is usually around the 5 PM mark, but it varies. But, if you don’t want to miss it, set up your shot at 4 PM and wait. The golden hour is not an hour. But, more like 30 minutes. You’ll know it when the sky is painted in stunning colors.
I like taking photos of myself in my room and outside by trees because I think the contrast between light and dark is fascinating for me.
Be sure not to be too close if there’s a lot of clutter on your desk – it makes things more difficult to see what you’re doing!
Use hashtags to get more followers
Using hashtags is a great way to get the attention and followers that will help you grow.
For example, I’ll often use #nofilter, so people know what they’re looking at when scrolling through their feed.
All posts should have at least two hashtags so more members can find them. You’ll also need to look out for what is trending.
Make sure that the hashtags you use are relevant to your content, and be sure not to go overboard with them, or people might start ignoring the hashtags altogether.
Post at least once every day so people know you’re active and engaged with them
The best schedule to post on Instagram is a regular, consistent one.
Make sure that you’re posting at least twice per day – if your following grows and you don’t want it to start feeling like spamming people with content they’ll quickly lose interest in.
This will also help the consistency of your social media presence and keep followers checking back for new posts or updates from time to time. You should try not to go more than three days without uploading something fresh!
Posting pictures every single day can be too much for some people, so experiment with different schedules until you find what works best for you while still being active enough where people know that they’ll get a response from you when they engage with your page.
It may seem like it takes away from other responsibilities that are going on in your life, but posting pictures every day is easier than people think.
Just take photos with an iPhone or Android phone (or any camera) while out and about during the day – maybe even at home if something was interesting happening that morning/afternoon too.
You could also set up some photo props around your house before taking snaps, so they look natural instead of staged ‘car selfie’ scenes.
Once you’ve taken a photo, open up the Instagram app and add your caption or quote to it. Then go into ‘Add Media’ and select your image from there – uploads are much quicker this way than just uploading images through a website like Tumblr.
Add an emoji if you want (or doodle some emojis in the corner of the picture) before posting on one of your social media accounts so people know which account they should be following too!
Conclusion
