How many blog views to make money (1,000 and 50,000)

Pageviews is a vanity metric. It doesn’t necessarily mean you can make more money if you have plenty.

A blog with only 1000 views a month that sells a good product or service can make more money than a website with 10,000 views per month monetized only with ads.

But, how many blog views do you need to make money?

Let’s find out.

How many blog views to make money?

If your monetization strategy is through an ad network such as Adsense, you’ll need a significant amount of traffic to make a considerable income through blogging.

In terms of ad revenue, you can make money when you are getting a trickle of traffic into your site. However, you won’t get much.

Here’s Aamir Kamal, a blogger sharing his earnings using Adsense: How Much Money Can I Make From AdSense With 1000 Visitors Per Day?

With Adsense, you can earn between $1.2 to $6 depending on your niche and country. Aamir mentions that if your target audience is from developed countries, your earnings per 1000 views is between $4 to $6.

How much can you earn with Adsense?

I will echo what Adsense has to say about earning money with variables of page views. It’s hard to say due to many reasons, such as how much traffic you are getting, your audience’s locations, and the type of content.

{quote}It’s hard to say exactly how much you’ll earn with AdSense until you try it for yourself. AdSense earnings are dependent on many factors such as how much traffic you get, what type of content you provide, where your users are located, how you set up your ads, and so on.

They do have a nice revenue calculator that can get you an estimate on how much you can earn.

You can set your target country and the type of content you produce. And, the calculator will get you an estimate.

The following is the annual earning for each category at monthly views of 50,000 in North America:

  • Arts and entertainment $3,744
  • Auto and vehicles $7,464
  • Beauty and fitness $6,042

The highest annual income comes from the finance category. You can earn up to $18,720 a year if your audience is located in the United States with 50,000 views a month.

In contrast, the lowest annual earnings come from the Games category at only $2,694.

So glad I didn’t continue my games blog!

I’m joking. Money is not everything.

You have to put your happiness first before the money.

In all seriousness, I’d rather be happy in my Mitsubishi than cry in a Ferrari.

If your life is F’d up, what good is having nice cars and big mansions?

Of course, you can be happy being rich.

Just don’t say that you’d rather be miserable but rich.
As you can see, you can make money with anything. But, you need some viewers in your blog to advertise to.

And you need to pump out a lot of content so you can be seen by Google and indexed in the search results.

To pump out a lot of content with little to no budget, you need to put in many hours.

And you can’t do that if you don’t love what you are writing about.

If you don’t have the passion for your chosen niche, you will eventually quit, and your site will drown in the sea of dead blogs.

But there are other alternatives to plastering ads all over your site. Here’s how to monetize a blog with 1000 views.

How to monetize a blog with 1000 views?

It takes some time to get to 50,000 views or more per month. So, are you just going to wait until you hit 50,000 views before you can start monetizing?

No way!

You can start making money with as few views as 1,000 per month with your blog.

Monetizing a blog that only has 1,000 views per month with ads won’t make you much.

But, with products and services, you can start raking in dollars with a small number of views.

The following is how I would monetize a blog with a few views a month:

  • Coaching
  • Writing
  • eCourse
  • eBooks
  • Memberships

Coaching

Let’s talk about coaching.

Do you know how much life coaches make?

Plenty.

What is a life coach anyway?

I guess you have to know a lot about life to coach someone.

I don’t know. I’m not a life coach. But according to Glassdoor, the annual salary of a life coach is around $30,000.

That’s not too bad.

You can quit your job with $2,500 a month, can’t you?

Well, I guess it depends on how fancy you are.

I’m content with not going out, worn-out clothes, and public transports.

I can save money and be a full-time blogger.

Of course, if you want to sustain your lavish lifestyle, you’ll need to earn more than what you are spending.

And if you don’t know how much you are spending and earning, you’ll probably need a life coach to sort that out.

You may not want to be a life coach. Use your blogging knowledge to help one motivated fan.

You can be a blogging coach, a business coach, a fitness coach, or any field you’re an expert in.

Writing

You’re a blogger. What do bloggers do? You write.

Businesses want to inform, educate, and market to customers.

Content marketing is essential these days.

You can answer their call by charging a whole lot of pretty pennies.

According to Linda Formichelli, the last time I checked, an on-demand freelance writer can charge up to $250 per hour.

Don’t be fooled, though.

When you’re only starting, you may not be able to charge that much.

You have to position your service better if you want to charge a high price.

That means you would have plenty of word of mouth and write phenomenally.

Otherwise, if your writing sux, who’s going to come back and keep paying you money?

Nobody.

It may be difficult to start charging a premium price when you’re new. So, adjust your price as you gain more clients and experience.

You can also expand your knowledge and separate yourself from the sea of writers. You can be an SEO copywriter who is an expert in search engine optimization.

An email copywriter who knows how to automate tedious email sequences. Or simply a direct response copywriter who is a pro in converting a reader into a customer with a single touch.

Direct response copywriting is a lucrative business. DR copywriters are paid in the thousands with a single sales letter plus a royalty.

Royalty is like a commission from each sale. You have to work out the details with your client or employer about any copywriting royalties you may receive.

The following is an article from AWAI that explains how you can get a recurring income from your sales letters: Copywriting royalties.

eCourses eBooks Memberships

Why don’t you create a course on how to start a blog? Or a course on your expertise. You can start a membership site and teach only those who pay for access.

Nowadays, it doesn’t matter if you’re non technically minded because there are many ways you can get things done with many apps that come out.

For instance, look at Teachable. Teachable makes creating an online course fast and straightforward. All you need is a good product.

Perhaps you can write an eBook on how to cook any dish and be delicious. No matter your expertise, you can make money by offering a course to those who are interested.

Conclusion

It makes sense to explore other monetization alternatives to plastering ads all over your blog.

But, you can make money with not many blog views. Once you have 1000 blog views per month, you can start making a good deal of money.

Not from ads, though.

Ads will only get you a pizza at 1000 views per month.

What you need is to start offering products and services such as the following:

  • Coaching
  • Writing
  • eCourse
  • eBooks
  • Memberships

You don’t have to rely on a massive amount of blog views to make money. If you haven’t started your blog yet, what are you waiting for?

Don’t be one of those people who keeps asking whether a blog still makes money.

Are you going to ask the same question in 5 years?

While those who took action today are already making a reasonable sum of money blogging, start your blog now because regret is poison.
