If it were that easy to start a blog and make money, everyone would be doing it.

So, did you just got clickbait-ed?

Maybe.

But, you’ll learn that blogging and making money from your blog is nothing but easy.

How to start a blog easy

Now that you’ve realized that blogging is not easy, let’s go over how you can start your blog for free.

It’s pretty easy to start your blog for free.

You just need to join the following sites:

  • Medium
  • Blogger
  • WordPress.com
  • Instagram

There are many more, but I’m not going to pretend that I know how to start a blog on platforms that I never actually tried.

Medium

Let’s talk Medium.

Medium is a blogging platform where you can write and get paid.

It’s a great way to talk about your expertise and create a brand.

And, if your writing pierces many hearts and attracts many readers, you can join the ranks of well-paid Medium writers.

Medium is legit, and the following article shows that making money from Medium is not a scam.

However, to make good money on Medium, you’ll have to publish many.

And, writing can take hours to days to finish.

I have not earned a penny on Medium, probably because I have only published one story so far.

But, I do get plagiarists who copy and publish my articles to Medium, which can be annoying.

Joining Medium is easy. Just go to the Medium creators’ page at Medium.com.

The process of starting a blog in Medium is straightforward.

Click on “Get Started,” give them your email, and craft a story.

You can pretty much write about anything on Medium and make money as long as people are willing to take the time to read it.

The following are just their guidelines to ensure your article do not go to the paper shredder:

  • Original work – The writing and images you share should be your own (or used with permission or citation).
  • No advertising – No advertising, please. Make sure your posts don’t sell other products and features or include requests for donations.
  • No clickbait – Medium readers seek depth and nuance. We recommend sharing your best thinking instead of clickbait and fluff pieces.

Make sure you become a partner to ensure you get paid when people read your articles. To become a partner, you need to connect your bank account or debit account.

You also have to provide your tax information and ensure that your articles are set up correctly (paywalled) to be eligible. Read more on getting started with Medium’s Partner Program.

Blogger

Pyra labs developed Blogger and were bought by Google in 2003.

Blogger is another free platform where you can join for free and blog.

However, Blogger won’t pay you, unlike Medium.

You can earn money by displaying affiliate links and ads.

Blogger is Adsense ready. It’s only a simple click away, and you’ll have ads displayed on your website making you money. Easier said than done.

You need the traffic to make money off ads. And, it takes time for Google to index your new blog.

Furthermore, you have to keep creating content to show Google that your site is worth indexing.

Blogger is free, and the drawback is that your domain will look like this: www.yourdomain.blogspot.com.

But, you can always opt to buy your domain and point its DNS to Google’s servers.

You probably don’t want to anyway because you’re looking to start a blog the easy way and for free.

In saying that, pointing to DNS servers doesn’t require much effort or technical knowledge. All you need is control of your domain’s nameservers. There are many tutorials on the internet on how to do that.

Go to Google search and type “how to point a domain to blogger Namecheap” if Namecheap is your domain provider. If you’re stuck, you can always ask for assistance from your domain registrar.

WordPress

WordPress allowed people to build any type of site without an ounce of coding knowledge.

You can create a news site, a portfolio, and even open up an eShop.

Similar to Blogger, WordPress doesn’t pay you like Medium. But, you get paid in different ways, such as ads, promoting other people’s products, to selling your own.

As it is for free, your URL address would look like the following: www.danggoodsite.wordpress.com.

Instagram

Instagram was made for photographers to share their great clicks and show off their editing prowess.

But, as with any platform, it’s evolved. Anyone can become protogs (professional photographers) by using filters to make any photo look vibrant and alive.

Most users on Instagram don’t take advantage of its capacity to write 2,200 characters or 400 to 500 words.

Stories create engagement, so use the captions to tell your story. Divulge everything, except the ones that would land you in prison.

Everyone scrolls through Instagram at a fast pace that puts the quickest hands in boxing to shame.

Capturing their attention with your photo is a great way to stop them from scrolling. While you have their attention, take advantage by creating an engaging blog.

Believe it or not, people read the captions.

Blog about something people would love to know or something relatable. Then, as you garner more followers, you can make money as an influencer.

Influencers make money from sponsorship deals or promoting people’s products and services.

Conclusion

How to start a blog easily and free?

The easiest way to start a blog and for free is by joining blogging platforms such as the following:

  • Instagram

If I were to choose, I’d pick WordPress.com. WordPress makes things easy when it comes to building a website and much more versatile compared to other content management systems.
