Depending on your niche, you may only need about 300 blog posts to start earning enough to afford a ghostwriter.

However, it must also help people understand what your blog is about so they can gain more interest in reading your posts.
For example, you’re not going to name your blog Mommy Pasta when all you talk about is basketball. But, then again, as far as branding goes, this doesn’t matter.
It’s just an easier way for anyone to understand, and they’ll know straight away what to expect from you.

What you need to do now is to put your head down and create content as much and as fast as you can.
Aim to get to 70 – 100 posts.
I say 70 because, from experience, that’s when I start to see my posts being indexed from Google. And my impressions begin to grow.

Don’t just spam them with blog posts. You’ll probably get kicked out or banned. Answer questions, ask questions, start a conversation, and be the go-to mom about your specialty.
- Social Media – It’s the same thing when it comes to social media. You still have to engage with people who comment on your posts. You can use Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. Entirely up to you but preferably where your target audience hangs out.
- Guest Post – Guest posting was used to score some backlinks for SEO purposes back in the day. However, this is a black hat technique that can get your site ranking dropped. But, guest posting is marvelous for brand building. You’ll get to leverage their audience and make them aware of your blog.
There are many monetization options when you own your blog. The following are typical ways to make money from your blog:
- Affiliate marketing – Affiliate marketing is when you recommend someone else’s product and receive a commission from qualified sales.
- Accept sponsored posts – Accepting sponsored can get your free content without doing any work and get paid too. However, you have to mark their outbound links and the post as rel=” sponsored.” If you don’t, Google doesn’t like it. You don’t want Google to put your name on their blacklist. Getting someone to write a 1000-word article and make them pay you without a do-follow link is hard. I know because I get emailed heaps for guest posts on one of my sites. But when I tell them it’s marked as sponsored, I don’t hear back from them.
- Ads – You can use Google Adsense from day one of starting your blog. However, I don’t recommend it as you’ll only be paid peanuts. Wait until you have a significant amount of traffic coming in a month. Aim for 10,000 page views.
- Your own product/service – Sell a product or service. You can source products from China or drop ship from your local stores that accept drop shipping retailers. This is my favorite monetization method as it’s the most rewarding but, at the same time, the hardest.

Think about writing for your target market. Your content should aim to help, inform, amuse or inspire people who do not know you yet. You can’t expect others to read something if it’s just written for yourself!

The easiest way to do this is through Facebook groups and link parties. However, you can also use Instagram or Twitter to create “pods” or group messages which will allow for collaboration from everyone.
If it works well, keep doing what brings results.
I recommend joining all of them as long as you can put out good content consistently. If not, then I suggest focusing on one.
Blogging is already time-consuming. Don’t let social media take up any more of your precious time. A time you could be spending with your kids.
Don’t do a follow me follow your campaign. Those followers won’t engage with your blog or buy from you anyway. So, what’s the point? Vanity? Bah!
I know myself when I hire influencers, I don’t look at their follower count. Instead, I look at their engagement ratio. Imagine having 1 Million followers with only 1% engagement? I’m wasting my money if I paid them by their following. Most brands are aware of this now.
